DUM DA DUM DUM DA_UMMMM!!!!

Wellllll... it happened!  I hit the big 4-0!  Seems so strange really, because I still feel so young.  I remember when 40 was like, well, you know... OLD.  Now, I realize, it is really the new 20... (okay 30, but whatever).  I have never been one to dread age.  I don't dread the next year, the next decade, the next pound on the scale (okay so the last one was a lie!).  I like where I am in life right now.  I like where I have been.  And I am excited about wherever the next day, month, year, decade, may take me!  I like being alive, but even more I like living in this life, so turning 40 isn't bad.  It's fun because it is... well next!

I will say, there was one kink in it.  I didn't realize until JULY that this was the year I would turn 40.  I argued and argued with a group of friends at the pool that this would just be 39.  I meant it.  I really thought it.  I had seen friends a grade ahead of me in High School  just turning 40 last spring and summer, so that even confirmed it. But, we did the math, and sure enough... this was the year for my big 4-0!  The only thing that bothered me about this new revelation, was 1) how did I miss a birthday and 2) does that mean I missed presents one year too?  What I finally have figured out, is because my birthday is so near Eathan's death date, I lost sight of it during his last days on earth because it didn't matter at all to me.

But it did matter now... and I was feeling pretty cheated.  My funny friends surprised me with a cake and candles on the 4th of July and I had a 39th in July.  It was awesome!  So then I was ready and geared up for the big 4-0 without any dread at all.  Little did I know just how absolutely special it would be.  Can I just say, I have some AWESOME people in my life.  I didn't just have a celebration DAY.  I had a celebration WEEK!  My team at school surprised me every single day starting the Monday leading up to my Friday birthday (the master mind of Christine coordinating it all) with something special every single day.  I have wanted to post since then, but here is my first chance.  I ended the celebration by getting to head home to my parents.  What a great, great way to begin this new decade!

I feel another post coming soon... on the deeper side... as I enter into this new era I am now beginning.  But for now, I just want to share the fun and the joy of my special week of turning 40 a year sooner than I thought! :)
